Mike
Penna
Host
Mike Penna first sat down
behind a microphone in 2003
when he began co-hosting the
popular Saturday morning
Equine Forum talk show. In
2005, Mike and co-host Pete
Kules established the Horse
Racing Radio Network. The
duo travel to racetracks
around the country,
providing fans with live
coverage of many of the
nation’s biggest races. His
passion for racing spans
more than 19 years. In 1989,
he stood alongside the rail
at historic Saratoga
Racecourse and watched as
Easy Goer won the Travers
Stakes. After cashing his
winning ticket on the heavy
favorite, he was hooked for
life.A native of Pittsfield,
Massachusetts, Mike and his
wife, Michelle, relocated to
Lexington in 1997. Mike
worked at The Jockey Club,
Thoroughbred Times, and
Keeneland's racing office
before pursuing his interest
in broadcasting. |

Pete Kules
Host
Pete brings a
lifetime of broadcast and Thoroughbred racing experience to the
Lexus Equine Forum. Pete's passion for
the sport spans six decades, earning his first stripes as a hot
walker and groom. After stints as a vet's assistant and
assistant starter, Pete parlayed his backside experience, going on
to call and handicap Thoroughbred and harness races, as well as
launching a four-decade career as a sports writer and
broadcaster.
An award-winning
broadcaster, Pete has covered professional and college athletics
throughout North America. However, it is horse racing that has
held Pete's interest for six decades.

Jude
Feld
Paddock Reporter
Jude Feld joined the HRRN
team in 2007 as paddock
reporter and analyst. He has
loved Thoroughbred racing
since his youth. He began
his horseracing career in
1978, making charts for the
Daily Racing Form at Ellis
Park in Henderson, Kentucky
under the tutelage of
legendary trackman Jack
Valentine. After a stint as
assistant trainer to Doug
Udouj in the Bluegrass State
and to Julio Canani in
California, Jude took out
his own trainer's license in
1980. He has trained the
winners of 23 stakes,
including graded winners
Pewter Grey, Steff Graf (Brz)
and Vieille Vigne (Fr) as
well as multiple stakes
winners Broadway Pointe,
Freya Stark (Ire), Order and
Capel Meister (Fr). Retiring
from training in 2000, Jude
became a racing publicist,
public handicapper and
bloodstock consultant. In
2003, he was honored with an
Eclipse Award, alongside G.D.
Hieronymus, for their
collaboration “If it was
easy…everyone would do it,”
which he wrote and G.D.
produced for Keeneland. Jude
has an intimate knowledge of
the Sport of Kings and
countless friends in the
Thoroughbred racing
industry. |
Billy
White
Analyst
Billy White began working
with HRRN in 2006 when he
served as an analyst
alongside Mike & Pete. He is
a chicago native and
entrepreneur who considers
Lexington KY his second
hometown and Keeneland
racecourse as hallowed
grounds. When not working
with HRRN, he operates a
sales company and is an
owner of several Jimmy
John's restaurants. Billy is
a racing enthusiast who has
owned horses in partnership
with Ashby Thoroughbreds
since 1999. He refers to
himself as a "frustrated
handicapper and horse
pontificator". |
Rowland
Hoyt
Analyst
Rowland "Rolly" Hoyt joined
HRRN in 2007 as an analyst
alongside Mike Penna.
Originally from
Massachusetts, he now lives
in Northern Kentucky as the
researcher and statistician
for all ESPN horse racing
broadcasts and based in
South Florida during the
winter as a television host
for Gulfstream Park. Rolly
got into racing while
attending college in Boston
at the time when Suffolk
Downs reopened in the early
1990s. Landed a job in the
publicity staff there and
eventually got into
broadcasting at both Suffolk
and Rockingham Park before
moving to Philadelphia Park
as a host on The Racing
Network. Went on the road
for YouBet.com as a track
reporter in 2000 with a
circuit of Gulfstream,
Hialeah, Monmouth Park, the
Meadowlands and eventually
Belmont Park. Currently the
New England correspondent
for Daily Racing Form. |

John
Edwards
Director of Broadcast
Operations
and Affiliate Relations
John Edwards is in his 3rd
year with HRRN, serving as
the Director of Broadcast
Operations and Affiliate
Relations. Throughout his
career in radio, John worked
for LM Communications where
he served as the Operations
Manager of ESPN Sports Radio
1300, Executive Producer for
the "Sports Huddle", host of
the University of Kentucky
pre and post game shows for
both football and
basketball, and the
Executive Producer of the
"Chris Cross in the Morning"
news program on SuperTalk
96.1. Before his tenure at
LM Communications, he was
the General Manager of the
University of Kentucky's
student-run radio station
WRFL 88.1 FM. John graduated
the University of Kentucky
in 2006 with a BA in
Political Science.

Adam
Frenier
Producer
Adam Frenier is in his first
year with HRRN, serving as a
on-site producer and
technician. Prior to joining
HRRN, Frenier worked for
WEEI/WRKO Radio in Boston,
serving as the Studio
Producer for the Boston Red
Sox Radio Network from March
2005-May 2007. Since 2003,
he has been affiliated with
the University of
Massachusetts Sports Radio
Network in a number of
capacities, including Studio
Producer, Football Sideline
reporter, Play by Play voice
for webcasts of various
athletic events and as a
statistician. From
2000-2005, Frenier worked at
WHMP-AM in Northampton, MA
as a News Anchor and
Reporter, producer and as a
voice for various local
sporting events. A Native of
Northampton, MA, Frenier
graduated from the
University of Massachusetts
in 2004 with a Bachelors'
Degree in History. |
