HRRN AND KEENELAND SALES TO CELEBRATE 1999 BELMONT STAKES WINNER LEMON DROP KID

Lemon Drop Kid Week on HRRN Begins Monday, June 2

LEXINGTON, KY (June 2, 2025)Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN), the award-winning broadcast organization based in Lexington, KY, has partnered with Keeneland Sales to celebrate the achievements of 1999 Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid.

Beginning Monday, June 2, HRRN will feature special Lemon Drop Kid content across their platform of weekly talk shows, as well as on the network’s social media pages, website and e-newsletters. Listeners will enjoy replays of his biggest wins along with interviews and conversations looking back on his racing career. Lemon Drop Kid Week presented by Keeneland Sales concludes on Belmont Stakes day, Saturday, June 7.

All HRRN shows can be heard throughout North America on Sirius 162/XM 207 with live streaming and podcasts made available on the network’s website, www.horseracingradio.net, and multiple podcast platforms. A graduate of the Lanes End consignment at the 1997 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Lemon Drop Kid tallied 10 victories from 24 starts for owner Jeanne G. Vance. Among his seven graded stakes triumphs, were victories in the 1998 Futurity (G1) during his 2-year-old campaign, followed by wins in the 1999 Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers (G1) at three, before capturing the Brooklyn Handicap (G2), Suburban Handicap (G2), Whitney Handicap (G1) and Woodward Stakes (G1) in his four-year-old season. Trained by Scotty Schulhofer, Lemon Drop Kid retired with earnings of $3,245,370 and was voted Champion Older Male of 2000.
